General Manager

About Chi Junky®

Chi Junky® is Toronto’s premier boutique yoga studio located in the east end of Toronto in Leslieville. Our 4,000 square foot studio is a newly renovated space which prides itself on stunning design and attention to detail. It includes two practice studios, two treatment rooms, client lounge, retail, on site management office and Chi At Home, our virtual interactive livestream classes. Our mission is to provide a safe space to heal physically and emotionally through movement and music. Chi Junky is a unique yoga haven known for curating an exceptional movement experience with signature classes from Sweat Flow to Zen Vibes Only and everything in between. Each class offers premium full service amenities with killer playlists and top instruction. Our studio is rooted in building a supportive community and giving back through various charities, making yoga accessible and welcoming all to step into their Chi. 

Role Expectations

This is a fast-paced top level managerial role and directly reports to the owner. It requires someone who is hands-on and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, a great team player and a strong leader, who leads by example and elevates the whole team. The role requires someone who is a fast learner and great at multitasking. This person will have incredible attention to detail and are accustomed to working in a premium brand with exceptional customer service.

You must ensure the studio has consistency in the customer journey and experience, and that the studio is maintained in a pristine condition throughout the entire hours of operation. Producing constant improvement in client experience, financial forecasting and scheduling activities. Leading and motivating the team to seamlessly execute and ensure consistency of services and overall experience. 

You must be incredibly organized and can manage time extremely well. Ability to think quickly on your feet to problem solve anything that the day might bring, while maintaining a professional and calm presence in the studio. You love accomplishing goals, exceeding targets, organization, maintaining cleanliness, and are efficient in responding to all emails within a timely manner. You have a go getter attitude and are not afraid to dive right in. Personal or professional experience in boutique fitness is a strong asset, but not required.

The ideal candidate will be energized by monitoring our studio's performance, listening to our clients and staff feedback, and helping develop and implement new strategies as our brand evolves. You run the place and care about its success so no task is too small.

Role Responsibilities

  • Performance of the entire studio, front of house and back of house 

  • Ensures excellent customer service

  • Staff management of 20+ people 

  • Class + staff schedule improvements - class optimization

  • Work alongside Marketing manager to develop and execute strategy + ensure we are meeting revenue goals

  • KPI/ financial sales and expense reporting analysis

  • Retail sale goals and inventory tracking 

  • Producing and analyzing reporting for sales and instructor/class performance

  • Extensive experience with MindBody Online, word, powerpoint, excel, email, google calendar, google drive.

  • Annual calendar planning

  • Seeking and securing new opportunities and growth for the studio 

  • Membership management 

  • Lead team meetings and one on one staff performance meetings (include notes of praise and deliver feedback and areas for improvement in a positive manner) and development meetings with staff to ensure career longevity 

  • Payroll 

  • Hire and onboard staff, develop a great on-boarding experience

  • Develop events with members/staff + build/maintain studio community culture

  • Keep team members engaged and maintain a high morale at the studio

  • Develop and maintain an excellent experience for all members, prospective members, and staff while in the space

  • Create and manage staff schedule in collaboration with studio manager 

  • Continue to drive the business forward, effectively planning and executing revenue goals, managing studio budget 

  • Work with the leadership team to execute the sales and to drive a premium membership experience and retention

  • Develop and roll out systems and policies, procedures, standards

  • Execute the vision of the studio 

  • Other appropriate duties as required and a no job is too small attitude   

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of work experience in an entrepreneurial or start up environment, with a preference for experience in boutique wellness.  

  • 2-3 years experience in customer service sales

  • MindBody Online system experience required

  • Strong work ethic, time management skills and leadership qualities 

  • Experience managing large teams with an ability to direct/delegate and a strong financial acumen with experience overseeing a business’ profit and loss.

  • Overall operations experience

  • High-level management experience

  • Undergraduate Degree is preferred

  • Flexibility in your schedule and available to work on evenings/weekends when needed

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
